Beverly Farm Foundation provides a loving, caring home for adults with developmental disabilities, providing each individual with physical and emotional security and a dignified quality of life, with opportunities and challenges, within each individual’s functional capabilities. Situated on 220 acres with over 480 employees, Beverly Farm is a pleasant place for adults (18 and older with developmental disabilities) to live and work.
Particularly important to me is the continuing update to our overall network infrastructure, and improving the health of our computer system, based on Acropolis’ recommendations, which is backed by the extensive wealth of knowledge they offer. The recommendations made are always in the “best practices” theme, but then discussions are held that help us implement those best practices or as close to them as we can given economic constraints. - Brenda Miller - Finance Director of Beverly Farm
Like most organizations their size, Beverly Farm relied upon a single person with periodic outside support from external vendors. Also, like many organizations their size, when their internal IT person moves on (as they all eventually do) they were worried that all of their institutional knowledge would leave with him. In addition, being reliant on just one person meant that when there were multiple on going problems, many important issues had to wait, causing a lot of user frustration and unmet needs.
In this case, our engagement with Beverly Farm began when they started looking for someone to replace their current provider. “Acropolis had some early wins showing capabilities that had not been available under our current support structure,” says Brenda Miller, Finance Director of Beverly Farm. Being dependent upon one person supporting 100 + users sometimes created conflicts; when one user was having a problem everyone else had to wait, making support slow and difficult to predict. After a few limited engagements, Beverly Farm chose HeliosVision Advanced as the best plan to meet their needs. The combination of unlimited Windows Server and Desktop management along with many proactive services for one fixed fee meant that multiple problems could be addressed simultaneously, helping operations run more smoothly and more predictably. The ability to quickly and remotely address user needs was especially impressive.
For roughly the same total cost of having an internal staff, Beverly Farm Foundation now has one IT company managing and supporting all aspects of IT. Service is aware of projects and as projects are completed there is a seamless transition to support. In addition, as Beverly Farm Foundation grows and evolves, the Acropolis supplied Virtual CIO sits with the executive team and helps them make informed IT decisions. The depth of support that Acropolis provides ensures that Beverly Farm Foundation is no longer dependent upon the knowledge and experience of one person; instead they receive the knowledge and experience of an entire team for no additional cost. At Acropolis, every service issue is tracked and every resolution is documented in a system that key Beverly Farms staff has access to 24/7.
