Senior Project Engineer

As a senior project engineer at Acropolis, you will focus solely on implementing new technology for our clients. Your day will consist of working with other teams to create estimates for new implementation projects, planning, coordinating and delivering projects and supporting open projects. You will be managing anywhere from 3-7 open projects along with 3-7 estimate projects a week. Project you work on could range from 8 hours to over 200 hours in some cases. Some examples of projects you will work on:

·       Moving the IT infrastructure of a 20-user office across town

·       Migrating a 50-user client to Microsoft office365 and exchange online

·       Replacing an old firewall with a next generation firewall

·       Installing a new SAN for a 200-user client

·       Working with a vendor to deploy an update to a critical line-of-business application for a manufacturing client

·       Converting a 20-server environment to Hyper-V

·       Configuring a new switch stack for 600 user company

·       Conducting an infrastructure best practices and security assessment for a software company

·       Rack design, layout and cabling for a client who takes pride in their Server room of 7 racks

·       Designing and deploying advanced network infrastructure both Layer 2 and Layer 3 for a bank with 15 sites and two Internet presences

·       Design and Implementation of Disaster Recovery sites and technologies for a law firm with 100+ servers

·       Migration to new ISP as well as redundancy design and planning for a photography firm with 20 clients and high need for Internet services and availability

·       Design, Plan and Implement a cloud Migration of a small 30 client network consisting of 3-6 servers

·       Design and Implementation for RDS collections for 10-500 client networks

·       Design and Implementation of a SQL Failover Cluster for an outage sensitive client

·       Design and Implementation of SQL Always-On solution for a client requiring high availability

·       Design and Implementation of BGP or OSPF solutions for Internal and External network connections

·       Design and Implementation of Wireless coverage for a high-density client


Technical Responsibilities

·       Design and Plan new technologies with Timelines

·       Deploy and configure new server, network and storage hardware such as Dell, HP, Fortinet, Cisco, EMC

·       Deploy and configure Microsoft applications and services such as Exchange, MS SQL, and Office365

·       Implement advanced network configurations such as VLANs, MPLS, SDWAN, BGP, OSPF

·       Deploy and configure Backup technologies such as VEEAM or Backup Exec

·       Deploy and configure Hyper-V and VMWare solutions

·       Deploy and configure Terminal Services or Citrix Presentation Server

·       Work with vendors to upgrade or deploy 3rd party applications such as QuickBooks, SAP and Worldox

·       Conduct infrastructure and security assessments

·       Support end users during project deployments


Administrative Responsibilities

·       Estimate and discover new projects

·       Lead customer kick-off and mile-stone meetings

·       Plan and deliver written timelines with milestones for projects

·       Communicate expectations to the client in a timely understandable way

·       Deliver projects with an “above and beyond” mentality

·       Conduct yourself in a pleasant, helpful and professional manner

·       Record and develop Lessons Learned for future projects

·       Track all time in a ticketing system and submit weekly time sheets
