Since 1999, Simmons Browder Gianaris Angelides & Barnerd LLC has represented thousands of clients throughout the country and has recovered over $3 billion in verdicts and settlements. The Simmons Law Firm focuses on mesothelioma and asbestos law , as well as dangerous drugs, environmental, intellectual property and personal injury litigation throughout the country.
The firm started with 8 employees and has since grown to over 200 employees working in offices around the country. As the firm has grown, so have its needs in IT. The lawyers and employees need to stay connected to each other and their clients. Acropolis has been with Simmons every step of the way: we’ve provided the firm’s IT services since it first opened.
Simmons was looking for a consultant to provide the IT expertise it needed both to manage the firm’s short-term needs and to help plan its long-term growth. When its relationship with Acropolis began, Simmons was a startup with no network, no trial software, and no access to email or the Internet.
In an era when high-speed access wasn’t as widely available as it is today, the Simmons Law Firm went with a remote access and server-based computing platform: this scalable model allowed their remote offices and traveling attorneys access to key document management and client data regardless of their location. This lowered costs for IT support and reduced the time it took to open new offices. “Acropolis was able to get a new office online and workers productive in less than 24 hours,” said Jim Howard, Chief Information Officer
Along the way, Acropolis has also worked on numerous special projects for the firm: system upgrades, document management, access control, backup and disaster recovery, and virtual infrastructure, including shared storage.
Fourteen years later, Simmons continues to help asbestos victims, filing lawsuits on their behalf. The firm has moved into a state-of-the-art facility in Alton, Illinois that accommodates most of the Simmons staff. The firm now has a more secure and reliable IT infrastructure than ever before, with greater storage capacity, a much faster network, and a completely mobile workforce.
